Discover the Arts in Westport
Westport is renowned for being a hub for the performing, literary and visual arts. Despite its tiny population, Westport supports both regional and world class exhibitions, concerts, comedy & literary events throughout the year. Snowfort Books, known as the “coziest bookstore in the Adirondacks” is an independent bookstore with a focus on small presses, offering literary and arts-centered programs which include literary readings, book release events, concerts, book clubs, and storytelling open mics. The Westport Library hosts creative talks, performances and weekly film screenings. The Mill presents a curated selection of immersive contemporary art exhibitions, renowned experimental and improvised music and nationally touring stand-up comedians. Ledge Hill Studio on Main Street showcases local and regional talent through their exhibitions and workshops.
During the summer months, the activities in Westport quadruple! Starting in June, The Depot Theatre kicks off its main stage productions with a full season of professional theatre located in Westport’s historic, functioning 1876 train station. Free outdoor concerts can be enjoyed on the hillside of Ballard Park overlooking Lake Champlain. The prestigious Meadowmount School of Music, founded in 1944 by Ivan Galamian opens its concert hall to the public for performances by its exceptional violin, viola and cello students and faculty.
