The temperature and humidity are rising, and rising again, just in time for the fourth of July. Thankfully, Saturday may be more than 15 degrees cooler than today! Fans on, fingers crossed. Come join us for a full weekend of celebration for America’s 250th anniversary!

Due to the untimely passing of Dr. Joe Clauss, our pyrotechnician, the fireworks have been cancelled. We extend deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him. In celebratory spirit in his honor, we have quickly assembled a fantastic waterfront town-wide party at Lee Park on Friday, July 3d: Friday Night Lights Over the Lake! Come enjoy free everything: music! S’mores! Michigans! Hand pies and ice cream sandwiches! Magic by Wyatt Hackett Illusion! Free caricatures by Joe Ferris! Glow-sticks and souvenir beach balls! A big camp fire! Music from Overtime Events! Design your own souvenir t-shirt! Even, Maiz Vargas Sandoval, Fire-dancer! Not to mention, fireworks viewing over the lake, courtesy of the Basin Harbor Club in Vermont.

SATURDAY JULY 4TH

• 10am - 4pm - Bouncy house on library lawn

• 10am ~ 2pm - Pop-up Maker’s Market on the library lawn

• 10am - 2pm - Face painting on the Library Lawn

• 10am - 2pm - Bag coloring activity for kids (and grown up kids!) for the Westport Food Shelf

• 11am - Parade lineup at the fairgrounds

• 12pm - Parade begins

• 10am - 4pm - Annual book sale and raffle at the Westport Library

• 11am - 2pm- Michigans and strawberry shortcake at the Westport Federated Church, after the parade

• 1pm - 4pm- Cardboard boat building at Lee Park

• 4-6pm - Live music at Ballard Park: Mountain Echo Band

• 6-8pm - Live music at Ballard Park: Russ Bailey Blues Band

• 8-10pm - Live music at Portside at the Marina: Moonbird

• 9pm - Sparkler Toast on the deck at Portside, with sparklers and Prosecco

• 9:30 am - Cardboard Boat Float Challenge, Lee Park

• 10 am - Volleyball in Lee Park

• 10am - 4pm - Book sale at the Westport Library

• 5pm - 8pm - Party and live music with the PondeRz at Winton’s Tavern for the Veteran’s Fundraising Tournament
